The name of Phanes is attested on a series of early electrum coins minted in Asia Minor in the 7th century BC. This group of coins has a Greek legend reading "Phaneōs eimi sēma" (Φάνεως ειμί σήμα) which can be translated as "I am the badge of Phanes".
