Medieval mint of Negroponte, located in Chalkida, the main town of Euboia island, operational for a short while from 1255 for the Villehardouin princes of Achaia, producing fractions of base pennies. Whether or not such issues were minted there or in fact at Corinth has been debated in the literature, most recently the existence of an actual mint of Negroponte is the favoured solution (literature: Travaini 2011, p. 1404; Baker 2021, pp. 1366-1367). Μεσαιωνικό νομισματοκοπείο της Χαλκίδας, της κύριας πόλης στο νησί της Εύβοιας, το οποίο λειτούργησε ένα σύντομο διάστημα από το 1255 κ.ε. για τους Βιλλαρδουίνους, πρίγκηπες της Αχαΐας, εκδίδοντας υποδιαιρέσεις δηνάριων από ευτελές μέταλλο. Die mittelalterliche Münzstätte von Negroponte in Chalkis, dem Hauptort der griechischen Insel Euböa, war ab 1255 für kurze Zeit für die Villehardouin-Fürsten von Achaia tätig und prägte Pfennige bzw. deren Teilstücke. Ob solche Ausgaben dort oder tatsächlich in Korinth geprägt wurden, ist in der Literatur umstritten, wobei in letzter Zeit die Existenz einer aktiven Münzstätte in Negroponte favorisiert wird (Literatur: Travaini 2011, S. 1404; Baker 2021, S. 1366-1367).
