The individual holding the office of Kastvogt. Kastvogtei is a legal term of Alemannic origin that was used from the High
Middle Ages to the early modern period. Upon assuming the office of Kastvogt, feudal lords exercised protective supervision
over a monastery or convent, represented this institution in secular matters and performed certain tasks in the monastery's
economic management (Kasten = storehouse), its jurisdiction and legal representation externally and in court. In return, the
Kastvogt was entitled to parts of the tithe.
