The Senn von Münsingen were an aristocratic knightly family that owned property in the Bernese Aare valley and in the Emmental
in the 13th and 14th centuries. As ministeriales of the Counts of Kyburg they had significant landholdings in fief from them.
In 1347, the family inherited the the lands of the Counts of Buchegg in the Bucheggberg region of Solothurn and in the Limpach
valley, and in 1360 they were elevated to the title of baron.
