The House of Nellenburg was an important noble family in south-western Germany and northern Switzerland, which died out in
the male line around 1105. Originally descending from the Eberhardingers, the Nellenburgs have been named after the Nellenburg
on the Nenziger Berg west of Stockach since the middle of the 11th century. Members of this family are known as counts of
the Zürichgau, later as founders of the Kloster zu Allerheiligen (All Saints Abbey) in Schaffhausen and holders of the county
of Nellenburg and the county of Neckargau. The fundamental source for the first line of Nellenburg counts is the history of
the founders of Allerheiligen, known as the Schaffhauser Stifterbuch (Schaffhausen Book of Founders).
