Medieval and modern mint of the Corfu, the capital of the eponymous island. Corfu was a mint for the Lord of Corfu Philip of Taranto from 1294 until ca. 1296-1298. Corfu was also a mint during the early nineteenth century for the Septinsular Republic. There is a more remote possibility that a Corfu mint produced billon trachea for Manfred of Staufen as lord of Romania in 1258 or 1259. The location of the medieval mint was presumably inside the fortified town, which was in the middle ages confined to the area now known as the old castle (palaio frourio); the early 19th-century mint operated at Garitsa (literature: Travaini 2011, pp. 1317-1318; Baker 2021, pp. 1353-1357 and 1441-1443; Moschonas 2002). Η Κέρκυρα ξαναλειτούργησε ως νομισματοκοπείο κατά τον πρώιμο 19ο αιώνα για την Επτάνησο Πολιτεία. Είναι ισχνή η πιθανότητα ένα νομισματοκοπείο στην Κέρκυρα να παρήγαγε χαλκάργυρα τραχέα για τον Manfred των Staufen, ως κυρίου της Ρωμανίας, το 1258 ή 1259. Als unsicher gilt, ob auf Korfu bereits 1258 oder 1259 für Manfred von Staufen als dominus Romanie Billon-Trachea geprägt wurden. Der Standort der Münzstätte befand sich vermutlich innerhalb der befestigten Stadt, die sich im Mittelalter auf den Bereich der heutigen alten Burg (palaio frourio) beschränkte (Literatur: Travaini 2011, S. 1317-1318; Baker 2021, S. 1353-1357 und 1441-1443).
