The House of Vuippens descended from the Lords of Corbières. It was one of the most important families in the entourage of the Bishop of Lausanne. In 1225, the lord of Vuippens supported Aymon de Faucigny in his attempt to seize the avouerie of the bishopric of Lausanne. In 1244, Ulrich de Vuippens was one of the mediators who prepared the agreement between Jean de Cossonay and the House of Savoy.
